1. Define the application
Write down where the material will be used: a floor, feature wall, shower wall, worktop or exterior surface. Include traffic, moisture, exposure and any project-specific requirements. This brief should lead the selection.
2. Establish the visual direction
Compare marble, stone, concrete and metal, and wood looks. Consider undertone, pattern movement and the relationship to adjacent materials.
3. Look beyond the small sample
Request sample options and full-panel imagery where available. View the material under the lighting expected in the finished space. A sample is useful for color and finish, but it cannot show every variation or the full pattern of a large slab.
4. Confirm format, finish and suitability
Record the exact product reference, size, thickness and finish. Verify the manufacturer’s approved application and share the technical documents with your installer or fabricator. A visually similar material may have different requirements.
5. Resolve the layout and quantity
Prepare a layout that accounts for pattern direction, cuts, joints and transitions. Have the installation professional determine the order quantity and appropriate allowance for cutting and waste. There is no single allowance that fits every panel layout.
6. Confirm the order details
Check current availability, pricing, delivery arrangements and the scope of fabrication or installation before committing to a schedule. Keep the specification and approved material reference with the project documents.
Share your selection with our team and tell us which details you still need to resolve.
